LINBIT Welcomes Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron!

DRBD® Integral Part of New LTS Release

LINBIT hails the arrival of yet another enterprise Linux distribution to integrate DRBD. With the release of release of Ubuntu Linux 8.04 Hardy Heron , Canonical Ltd. joins SUSE/Novell and MySQL/Sun Microsystems who have already  been offering DRBD as part of their enterprise offerings for some time.

With the new Long Term Support (LTS) release, Ubuntu integrates DRBD into its Server Edition as a full-fledged storage replication technology. Thus, DRBD is directly available to all Ubuntu users as an easy-to-install package.

DRBD developer Lars Ellenberg considers the latest addition to Ubuntu “an impressive endorsement and a confirmation that we develop solid, reliable software our customers and users can rely on.”

We currently use your Linbit DRBD product to replicate data between our two data centres.

I would be grateful if you could confirm when will DRBD version 8.4 which we currently use reaches end of support.

      Hi Paul,
As of right now there is no EOL for 8.4. Additionally, as it’s in the kernel we will be supporting it for the foreseeable future. I would guess at minimum 3-5 years.

      Thank you for your support!
