Felder, the international woodwork machinery specialists for the industrial, retail and private sectors, favors open source software for its IT services. LINBIT®, Austria’s largest Linux service provider, supported Felder in designing a virtualization solution based on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. Felder is very satisfied with the performance of the Red Hat based solution.

Felder believes that IT infrastructures virtualization is essential for any internationally active company to reduce costs, increase flexibility and grow market share. “We opted for a solution based on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization because it offered greater advantages in terms of price and value compared to proprietary solutions. We were able to implement the system quickly, and it is running very smoothly thanks to LINBIT’s outstanding support and know-how,” said Thomas Margreiter, CIO of the Felder-Group.

Basic Knowledge and Practical Experience

“Here at LINBIT, we are proud to be a part of the global Linux community. We are committed to understanding the code and contributing to its development. As a Red Hat Premier Partner, along with our certified consultants, we are also able to help our customers implement practical solutions based on our solid foundation,” said Philipp Reisner, CEO of LINBIT.

“Customers can rely on highly qualified Red Hat Premier Partners, such as LINBIT, when it comes to designing a high-performance and sustainable virtualization solutions. More and more companies are putting their faith in powerful open source alternatives such as Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization – protecting themselves against proprietary dependencies by implementing modern virtualization solutions,” said Rainer Liedtke, Regional Sales Director EMEA and country manager Austria at Red Hat.

Felder’s IT department worked with LINBIT to design the solution’s architecture. Together, they implemented the system for the virtualization of Windows and Ubuntu servers while LINBIT supervised the solution installation across six physical servers. Furthermore, Felder negotiated a support contract with LINBIT that covers support and further development during operation.
